Coolant Change

  • Remove the belly pan.
  • Remove the coolant filler.
  • Find the drain plug on the pipe that runs from the water pump to the bottom of the radiator (above and behind the headers).
  • Remove the drain plug. Get coolant all over your hand.
  • Once drained, refit the drain plug.
  • Fill with water, burp the hoses, top up, burp,....etc.
  • Once full, replace the cap and open up the drain plug on the top of the water pump until water comes out.
  • At this point please tighten the drain plug/bolt. Don't run the motor with this open as the pump will cavitate and it could damage it.
  • Run the motor until the temp gauge starts to move.
  • Drain again as above but replace with coolant and water (distilled or de-ionized) mix.
  • Check coolant level after the next couple of rides.
  • Don't forget to flush and refill the overflow reservoir.
