Camera Mount

This was once a video camera mount for my Goldwing. It did work and shot some decent video through the windshield.

The aluminum tubing, and caps, and tubing clamps came from West Marine; any good marine supply house or boat canvas shop will have this stuff. Boaters use it to mount chrome crap on their deck rails and to build dodgers.

Each end mounted to one side of the handlebars. If you use the threaded holes on the handlebars, where mirrors would mount on a UJM, you'd just have to enlarge the holes in the plastic end caps.

You cut the tube just a little long and gradually shorten until it all lines up. You can see the set screw at the end cap on the left. I would replace this with a bolt to go right through the tubing; if the setscrew didn't hold, the tube and attached camera could spin.

I didn't like the basic layout and it'll become parts for another project.

I bought this unit used at a camera store. The quality is top notch. The clamps slide along the metal bar and will clamp to almost anything. Apparently it's an accessory the pro's use to clamp a second camera to the leg of a tripod (don't ask me why).
